This week is all about YOU!
And so we do hope you’ve made a positive start to the journey by giving yourself the time you need to focus on your actions.
As a quick reminder, those actions are:
1. Take a five minute break from being busy to just ‘be’. See what you notice when you stop, look and listen.
2. Ask your three great questions that will challenge assumptions
3. Use what you’ve learned from the past to take some tough action you have been avoiding.
Use the comments button to share with us what you did, the impact it had, any questions you have or the challenges you faced. And then help each other out by responding to the comments of other too!
Have a great week

Hi Managers Journey Managers!
At Leaps and Bounds we walk the talk, so I am currently on the journey with you and would like to share the difference the first challenge has made to me…
The biggest difference came from the start of the email:
“Hello there. How’s your coffee… is that a sneaky kit-kat too? We like your style!
Let’s start at the very beginning… and the beginning is YOU! So enjoy the read and then your actions are all based around the moral of the story. Do them all if you can or pick the one that will make the biggest difference to you right now.”
I opened the email during a very busy morning and started to read the first few lines… then I stopped and realised I wasn’t doing myself justice as 2 phone calls interrupted me and a different email was checked all in those early moments… so I started again.
This time I logged out of my email, turned my phone off for 5 minutes, made a cuppa and got a cadbury’s caramel and invested in myself, knowing this would have a great impact on the business and my team.
Sometimes we get so busy with our normal day to day work that we forget to develop ourselves, so this is the start of a 12 week journey for me… to allow myself the time to stop, think and develop!
The lessons from the week really helped me, and being more aware about my team and my decision making process has made it a more effective and enjoyable week.
I’d love to hear more from you about the successes and learnings you’ve had, so please comment away!
Enjoy!
Thanks Carly
Things always look different with a cup of tea and your favourite choccie bar! The purpose of the Manager’s coach is to encourage busy people to learn from their day to day work. We are increasingly talking about the importance of informal learning in business but we can only really learn from out real experiences if we give ourselves the time to reflect and and consider what we would do differently next time. Otherwise we just keep on doing what we’ve always done – not the best strategy in a rapidly changing world. So, I’m glad you took time out from your busy day – it really will pay off in the long run.
Gill
P.S Another great tool for informal learning is talking about what you plan to do – it helps you commit to action – so all you fellow travellers out there dive in and tell us your stories too
